WWFM 89.5 Radio has been broadcasting locally since 1996, and over the internet worldwide since 1998. Started by entrepreneur and Olbiil Era Kelulau (OEK) Senator, Alfonzo Diaz, who believes that “dissemination of information to the public is of the essence." After success with a small scale grocery store, laundromat, taxi service, and restaurant, he incorporated the Diaz Broadcasting Company and WWFM 89.5 Radio. Subsequently, he started KDFM 98.5 Radio which broadcasts easy listening, classical and jazz music. Senator Diaz hosts WWFM 89.5's “Talk Show” and “Express Yourself,” programs that deal with issues in the Government and communities. His straight forward views and community outreach, as well as his radio personality, garnered him the vast majority of listeners throughout Palau and worldwide. Senator Diaz is the son of Jose Diaz, a Chamorro from Guam, and Ulang Ngirchorachel from Koror. He was raised by his grandparents Yaeko Ngirchorachel and Ngirchorachel Ililau. A proud father of three children -- Keola, Kelandy, and Keana. He enjoys fishing, involving himself in community functions, and loves to sing and compose music. As a member of the Seventh OEK, Senator Diaz is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Resources, Commerce, Trade and Development, Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Youth Affairs and Social Welfare, and member of the Senate Committees on Ways & Means and Financial Matters, Judiciary and Governmental Affairs, Foreign Affairs and State Relations, Capital Improvement Project, and Health and Education. |
